Lamhaa - Movie Review

Lamhaa shows us, how, despite so many years post-partition, the valley still isn't over the muddled moment and sure if it's actually gotten what it wanted.

Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Anupam Kher, Kunal Kapoor
Director: Rahul Dholakia

Lamhaa- Let go, live free

Lamhaa, as projected by the promos, revolves around Kashmir and the many power hands playing to get the bigger piece of this pie, called 'heaven on earth'.

The story is complicated and swings wildly between Sanjay Dutt (who plays an intelligence officer), Anupam Kher (who is the leader of a political party) and Bipasha Basu ( the adopted daughter of Anupam Kher). Sanjay has been sent to Kashmir to sniff any major trouble, as it's the election period. He does sense trouble, but the problem is he needs to find out the mastermind behind the plans and not just the sacrificial pawns.

The movie is blunt with its approach. You see children getting trained for jihad and their bodies being stuffed with bombs. There are explosives and expletives in plenty. The good thing about the film is its pace…thankfully this is one movie that challenges you to 'keep up'. Even the romantic sequences don't look out of place and are justified.

When Lamhaa's tagline went – 'The untold story of Kashmir', it inevitably pushed many to wonder what new can be told of this disputed, distressed place that hasn't been captured by so many movies and documentaries before. The good news is –there is something new!

The film has captured the 'Kashmir state of mind'. With no one you can really trust you still need to run your life. Who is on your side? Military…really?? – all these questions are definitely etched on a Kashmiri's mind especially in the present situation where a curfew has only recently been lifted from the valley and by the time this article runs may be imposed back again without really surprising many.

The movie establishes the one fact, which we already know but just sort of remain indifferent to. The lives lost in this battle are just the innocent ones'. And not any wise politician or vile master-jihadi's.

A few days ago reputed journalist Barkha Dutt tweeted– 'India-Pakistan relationship of schizophrenic extremes. Either Sentimentalism or Suspicion. Desperately seeking a saner middler ground'. So true!

Let's not wash people over with the sentimental requirement for peace. Let's not even provoke each other with thoughts of suspicion. Let's do the sane thing. Respect each other's boundaries, values and identities and just go on with life without really pissing each other off. That would be so much profitable…both in a humane sense and in the economic sense for India and Pakistan.

Even though a normal citizen can't spring into productive action…the least one can do is say a silent prayer for this hell on heaven to get over with…

The cinematography is not all ooh-la-la. It's shaky and there's a glitch with lip sync at times. Like there's a reporter who keeps saying –I'm from Zee news, but his mouth hardly ever pulls to the shape that happens when you say Zee! Also, some scenes bear a striking resemblance to those from Oscar winning movie The Hurt Locker. Editing is crisp, doesn't make you yawn. Music is good, soothing.

However, coming from the director of Parzania, the movie as a whole was just a bit disappointing.

Sanjay Dutt looks so ruggedly handsome, mashallah! He is a natural actor and easily pulls off his part. Bipasha Basu has come of age in this film. Her acting credentials have gotten spruced up! Anupam Kher is convincing. Kunal Kapoor could have been better. His expressions do it, but his voice doesn't match up to the pain or passion of the situation. Maybe he needs dialogue delivery lessons.

I'm not from Kashmir, have never been to. So can't really vouch for the authenticity when it comes to portrayal of people's emotional state in the valley or the research done for the film. So here's a request. If you are from Kashmir, please do watch this film and post your feedback. Because even as Anupam Kher's character accuses the media saying– Aapki media ko Aishwarya ko chand dikha ya nahi isse khabar banti hai. Hamare yehan kitni beewiyon ne apne khaawind ko saalon se nahi dekha, iski koi parwah nahi – the media really needs a stronger shake from real people to wake up from the apathetic sleep. This, of course applies if and to those who are.

This is not any entertainment movie; this has a cause as the reason for its make. Anyone who takes things seriously about the whole Kashmir (or war) issue should definitely give it a dekko.

Ab phir milega ummeed se duguna

Amitabh Bachhcan who rings bells in our heart the way Santa Clause has done for a thousand years is coming back with his goodies. Goodies worth rupees 2 crores and counting. The sheer joy of hearing the sentence 'Main Kaun Benega Crorepati se Amitabh Bachchan Bol Raha haoon' will be heard again; over and over and over again. What an exhilarating feeling. Amitabh Bachchan is going to be back with KBC and this year for the 4rth time, the phone lines are going to be jammed and Filmcity, Mumbai's set number 5 is going to be packed with people wanting to catch just one glimpse and hold hands with the Man of the Millineum.

Amitabh Bachhcan's career was down in dumps around the time he accepted KBC. His family advised him strictly against taking it up as they thought it will degrade his position and status as the Megastar of Big Screen. The man was down in a huge debt of many many crores and his ratings as a Megastar as well as his financial status was far from good. Amitabh Bachhcan had himself thought that his career was close to over as his comeback had been unsuccessful and all his efforts to regain his glory were going in vain. Mrityudata had flopped and there was a crop of new actors and severe competition on the horizon. He still gave it a go as he thought he did not have much to loose and any gain was a big relief.

Suddenly the times changed, destiny took a turn and KBC became a rage; KBC became a household name all over India and Amitabh Bachchan bounced back to being a Demigod in the eyes of his fans. Those who had written him off, wrote him back in their hearts and minds. Amitabh's present and future changed too as his films started clicking at the box office. In today's times, producers and directors find it difficult to resist the idea of having him in their films.

Amitabh's comeback in KBC is also good for the TRP business. Shahrukh Khan as the host in third season of KBC was not as good an affar as it was during Bachchan's times. Bachchan's comeback may also proove to be a saving grace for Sony entertainment Television as it is becoming increasingly difficlult for it to sustain competition with Star Plus, Colors and Zee Tv around. And the fact that this time around KBC will also be dubbed in various South Indian languages will give Amitabh as well as Sony Channel unexplored grounds to tread on. As Star Plus earned millions and the man called Ravi who dubbed for Bachchan's voice and became a star down south, this time the show can go places with its new market.

Welcome Amitach Bachchan. you were missed on the scene. We wish you loads of action and memorable one liners which will stay in our memory for a long time to come.

Comedy Aur Music Ka SABse Bada Dose – ‘Mastiii’

E RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 07, 2010 – Mumbai, July 6, 2010: A song for every season and laughs without a reason… India now has a new fun destination called Mastiii - a new entertainment channel from the house of Sri Adhikari Brothers. Mastiii is a 24-hour free-to-air channel for everyone, no matter how old one is or what mood one is in… it aptly suggests ‘Mastiii Chaalu Rakho’. When viewers on Mastiii are not swaying to thumping beats and heart rending melodies, they are sure to be in splits with the series of gags, spoofs, pranks and other comic acts put on by some of India’s most loved comedians.

“We conceptualized Mastiii as an ‘electronic radio’, where people can tune in any time of the day for their dose of unadulterated fun. It offers 24-hours of non-stop music and comedy. It is targeted at the youth and at anyone who has a sense of humour. We are confident that Mastiii will soon become the choice of many because we have taken care to pack it with something for everyone. For us, every sound of laughter and every cheerful smile that Mastiii brings about will be a mark of our success”, said, Markand Adhikari, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, SAB Group.

Music on Mastiii ranges from the latest chartbusters to evergreen favourites. One of the bigger differentiating factors about the channel is that viewers will not be left craving for their favourite part of any song because Mastiii will play full songs, un-abridged.

“Music is an element of universal joy, as is humour; at ‘Mastiii’, as the name suggests, we promise to offer non-stop fun by combining both these elements”, said, Anita Varma, Associate Vice President - Programming, Mastiii. “75% of our content is music and 25% is dedicated to comedy, our USP. Breaking away from the half-hour format shows, we have one-minute fillers, gags and jokes by some of the best known comedians. We are confident that viewers will enjoy this maha dose of music and comedy making Mastiii, the nation’s fun-box”, she added.

There is no character they can’t imitate, nor a Bollywood film they can’t make a spoof of; they can Pak Pak Pakaau the audiences and tickle them till their days are resounding with the sound of laughter! The comedians roped in to make ‘Mastiii’ for viewers are some of India’s best artistes - Raju Srivastav, Suresh Menon, Sunil Pal, Shailesh Lodha, Raj Vyas, Kiku Sharda, Howard Rosemeyer and Sugandha Mishra amongst others.

“I am really excited about Mastiii because that word is what my life is all about and that’s what we are offering through this new entertainment destination”, said Raju Srivastav, the king of comedy and the face of the channel. “Humour is God’s gift to mankind and Mastiii is a platform for us messengers - Suresh, Shailesh, Raj, Kiku, Sunil, Howard, Sugandha and I - to do what was intended for us to do, make people laugh and keep them happy. So, Mastiii Chaalu Rakho”, he added.

From relevant to irreverent, fun never stops on Mastiii… whether it’s a common man facing the challenges of the Indian hinterland from flood waters to death beckoning government hospitals; the wise man at the village ‘chaupal’ who rhymes the world’s joys and miseries into soulful couplets, from Yuvraj Singh’s form to Mallika’s hemline; parodies of famous Bollywood scenes highlighting current issues like recession affecting the cash reward on Gabbar Singh. From eccentric celebrities to god men to the media and the common man, Mastiii promises to poke fun at one and all.

Watching 3D TV Could Be Harmful

On its Australian website, Samsung recently posted a long listing of the possible health hazards that may affect people watching 3D televisions. Many new technologies through the ages have undergone some type of public backlash resulting in warnings and dire predictions. Although some of the cautions have proven valid, most are due to the technology being overmarketed, its impact upon the environment, or people are upset because the technology is being used too frequently and distracting people from their jobs or responsibilities. The warnings issued by Samsung are reminiscent of the health problems postulated years ago connected to the early manifestations of virtual reality technology. At that time, researchers said that virtual reality use could cause eyestrain, nausea, motion sickness, and psychological problems such as hallucinations and even disassociation from reality.

The warnings from Samsung say that some people may suffer a stroke or epileptic seizure from watching the flashing images or twinkling lights in 3D images. Teenagers and children are the most susceptible to possible problems, which can include altered vision, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, mental confusion, loss of awareness, convulsions, disorientation, or involuntary movements including muscle cramps or eye twitching. The warnings say that parents should monitor children watching 3D TV and ask them if they are having any problems. If symptoms occur, you should stop watching immediately and see a doctor.

Samsung also says that less serious problems can occur, such as motion sickness, eye strain, after-effects with depth perception, and postural stability problems. They recommend that to avoid such issues, viewers should take frequent breaks and stop watching if the problems occur. People who are in bad health, sick, or sleepy, and those who have been drinking, should not watch 3D television. The company also warned against watching TV while sitting too close to the screen for a long period of time, saying that doing so could damage your eyesight. The best viewing distance, as with any television, should be at least three times the distance equal to the height of the television screen, with the viewer’s eyes at the same level as the screen.

Samsung’s warnings say that the 3D glasses that come with the television should not be worn for any other purpose other than watching 3D TV. They say that using them for anything else - such as regular glasses, sunglasses, or for protective wear - can physically harm your eyes or weaken your eyesight. In addition, because there is a risk of disorientation and depth perception disturbances after watching 3D TV, Samsung says it’s best not to locate your television near balconies, open stairwells, cables running across the floor, or other things that may cause you to trip and fall.

The market for 3D televisions is still very young, but the availability of 3D content is expected to drive sales upward in the coming months and years. Samsung’s competitors in the 3D market include Sony and Panasonic. Analysts expect that the annual growth rate of consumer spending on 3D technology will rise about 80% this year. Perhaps Samsung’s warnings are a pre-emptive strike against possible lawsuits from people who try to get too much of a good thing

Olympian Lindsey Vonn Enjoying Her Time Away From Skiing

Olympic skier and medalist Lindsey Vonn was all the rage during the most recent Olympic Games, but now she’s taking a break from skiing in a major way and has been seen at a wide array of formal events. Vonn has been seen recently at such events as the Academy of Country Music Awards and a variety of others and has a trip to the White House Correspondents dinner coming up, in addition to an appearance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art gala. It seems that the skiing sensation is just as comfortable in a gown and high heels as she is in a helmet and skis.

Noted Vonn, "I’ve been enjoying life since the Olympics. I’m just doing fun things now. No workouts, no training. I’m just enjoying the time away from skiing after a lot of years of grinding it out." Vonn has recently been shooting a commercial for Under Armour as well, and taking advantage of the fame earned during her participation in the games. Speaking of the change from ski outfit to formal wear, Vonn noted, "I love getting dressed up."

Asked what she was up to, Vonn noted, "Doing a cameo on ‘Law & Order,’ my favorite TV show. I got to play a jury foreman and had a line. I got to meet all my favorite actors, Jeremy (Sisto) and Anthony (Anderson). They were funny, cracking jokes between scenes. Alana de la Garza plays this real serious character but she’s hilarious." Asked about giving up skiing for being an actress or celebrity of a different sort and Vonn decline, noting, "I’d do Law & Order again but we’re heading to Austria in June to start training for another ski season. Hopefully, Tom and I will get a chance to go on a brief vacation before that."

The news that Sandra Bullock was asking for a divorce from husband Jesse James, and that she planned on adopting son Louis as a single mom made waves this week as the entertainment media ate up the news and spit it back out for consumption. Now, James is responding to the news, saying that when he found out it left a "huge hole" in his heart but that he understands Bullock’s move.

Said James in a letter, "My whole life has been full of hard decisions. The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own has been the hardest. The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart. Sandy is the love of my life, but considering the pain and devastation I have caused her, it would be selfish to not let her go. Right now it is time for me to beat this addiction that has taken two things I love the most in life."

It appears that James, like Tiger Woods before him, is using the "I’m addicted to sex" approach to getting himself out of full culpability. Understanding that addiction is a disease, and increasing number of philanderers seem to be going that route – i.e. – "it’s not my fault, I have a disease." To which we say…hogwash. James went on and said something reasonable as well, noting, "I ask that you please not judge Sandy for the things I have done. She has done no wrong. She played no part in any of this. She has been an amazing wife, mother, and best friend, for the over 6 years we have been together."

Katie Holmes, Greg Kinnear Set to Play Jackie and John F. Kennedy

Although the series is scripted, it is on the History Channel, so one would have to expect that the stories would remain as historically accurate as possible. Without knowing exactly which source materials will be favored for the mini-series, it is anyone's guess just how far producers will push the plot lines and how much focus will be on the personal relationships involving Jackie and JFK.

The announcement is somewhat of a boost for Katie Holmes, even though it is a mini-series on the History Channel. It's a certainty that other reputable stars were very interested in portraying an American icon like Jackie Kennedy. Even the get of Kinnear as JFK is a pretty big score for the history channel. It's safe to call him A-List, even though he may fly under the radar to a degree. He's held his own with the likes of Nicholson and others in blockbuster hits.

There will certainly be some speculation as to what role - if any - Tom Cruise played in securing the role of Jackie Kennedy for his wife. Since their marriage and the birth of their daughter, Suri, Katie Holmes has largely stayed out of the spotlight, picking up a few gigs here and there.

The mini-series, The Kennedys, is set to air on the History Channel at some point in 2011. It is unknown when or where filming will take place for the series, although it may be safe to assume that a History Channel production will shoot on-location at the White House and in Massachusetts to help ensure the feel of authenticity.

President Obama and Jay Leno Vie for Laughs at White House Dinner

Jay Leno had a rough couple of months over the Winter, when the general public became so weary of hearing about his moving time slot and his war with Conan O’Brien that he may have lost what little credibility he had left. Over the weekend, however, he was "out-comedianed" by the president of the United States. At the White House Correspondents dinner this weekend, Leno delivered the jokes as expected, but it was the president who truly lit it up and received praise from writers of all sorts.

Judd Apatow, director of "Knocked Up" and other comedies, noted, "I’m sure they gave the President twice as many jokes. I think a lot of the success had to do with the ones the president chose. His taste is impeccable. He also let himself be funny. Most of the time the job demands that he hold back." Another guest noted, "Jay wasn’t bad. The video bits were nice. But he was reading from notecards. The gags didn’t fly." Scarlett Johansson said simply of Obama, "His timing was impeccable."

The guest list at the dinner read like a veritable who’s who of celebrities and stars, with Tracy Morgan looked like a starstruck child himself, even as the daughters of Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown gravitated to Morgan himself. Given the opportunity to meet the president, Morgan noted in awe, "I can’t believe I met the president." Others in attendance at the dinner included Ashley Judd, Kim Kardashian, Ewan McGregor, Bradly Cooper, Morgan Freeman, Tony Romo, Jimmy Fallon and many others too numerous to mention.

24 to End After Eight Seasons

Jack Bauer, Cloe O'Brian and a host of other regulars and guest-stars gathered recently after shooting the final episode of the ground-breaking Fox series 24. For eight seasons, 24 has been at the forefront of action-drama in prime time. The show was unique when it started, airing it's episodes in real-time, following 24 hours of single days in the life of Jack Bauer, a super-agent with a counter-terrorism agency for the U.S. government.

The often followed loosely some of the happenings in the U.S. government and it's dealings with terrorism and hostile nations around the world. The show was always pushing the envelope as far as realistic technology and exploring the inner-workings of the security agencies that attempt to protect America from its enemies.

Many credit the show indirectly for introducing the concept of a strong African American President in its early seasons, something that some believe helped to pave the way for the reality of Barack Obama's presidency.

Although the show is shutting down after 8 successful seasons, there are already talks about the upcoming feature film. Sutherland said that a 24 movie would obviously be formatted to fit into the normal length of a feature film at about two hours. He said that kind of flexibility would give the writers a tremendous amount of creative latitude relative to the show, which requires that all events transpire in a time-frame that adheres to a realistic portrayal of a 24-hour time period.

Best Vampire Movies

Vampires are mythical, blood sucking creatures and make an appearance only in the night (for reasons only known to them). Vampires are a favorite subject for movie makers and many movies based on these gruesome creatures have been created. Most of the vampire movies have been influenced by the famous 1897 novel Dracula, by Bram Stoker. The first vampire myths were heard in the Roman, Hebrew and Mesopotamian cultures where people told tales of demons and spirits who survived on human blood and flesh. Filmmakers in Hollywood have portrayed vampires in many ways; they are successful businessmen, next door neighbors (Fright Night), rock stars (Queen of the Damned), and melancholic aristocrats in Interview with the Vampire. The female vampires are shown as tempting seductresses and sexual predators in Rabid and Vampyres. These are also some of the top vampire movies. Whatever be the interpretation, these vampire movies have created a huge impact on the audience and are a hot favorite. Let's see about some of the best vampire movies. Best Vampire Movies

With the recent craze of the Twilight series, vampire movies have gained a renewed interest. There are so many movies featuring Dracula, that I found it a bit tough to pick out the best vampire movies. However, given below is a list of some of the top 10 best vampire movies of all time;
•One of the first and best vampire movies is Nosferatu the Vampire, which was made in 1922. This is a black and white, silent feature films which has a very creepy looking vampire, sure to make your blood freeze. Max Schreck played the role of the main protagonist, Count Orlok, so well that it was rumored Schreck was indeed a real vampire.
•Another top grosser movie that can rightly be called one of the best vampire movies is Dracula, adapted from Bram Stoker's Dracula. This movie received tremendous critical acclaim and is considered the best ever made vampire movie till date.
•The plot of The Lost Boys (1987), revolves around Sam and Mike, two brothers who live with their father. Sam shows signs of being a vampire and struggles to come to terms with this fact. Mike, in order to save Sam from getting doomed, hires two vampire hunters. This movie has a very thrilling climax that makes it a 'must watch' in every movie buff's list.
•Another popular vampire movie that has to be in this compilation is Blade, a movie directed by Stephen Norrington. This movie has an excellent screenplay and shows that Blade who is a superhero and half vampire, fights against vampires to rescue mankind.
•How can one forget Van Helsing, directed by Stephen Sommers, while mentioning the best vampire movies! Gabriel Van Helsing, a man cursed with a past is sent on a mission, to the spooky world of Transylvania, to terminate Count Dracula. This movie has a thrilling and blood chilling plot and has been one of the highest grosser of 2004.

Mickey Rourke Appears in Huge Film, Disses Fellow Actors

Mickey Rourke has always been nothing if not outspoken, and the actor, whose career has been reborn of late, is at it again. He’s been in big movies, out of the business altogether, and made a comeback in films with budgets both large and small. Rourke received an Oscar nomination for his role in the very small-budget film "The Wrestler" and he’s now got a role in the massive summer blockbuster "Iron Man 2." Either way, he feels just about the same about actors in general as he always has.

He recently said in an interview with Parade.com, "’d just as soon do a big-budget movie as an independent one. Sometimes the independent movies can get a little too arty-farty. You watch the IFC Channel and you want to throw up. You don’t always have to take things so serious, you know." Rourke also mused aloud on the differences between working one "The Wrester" versus "Iron Man 2," noting, "I’d just come off working on ‘The Wrestler,’ which had no budget and I didn’t even have a chair to sit in. I remember the first day on ‘Iron Man 2’ I said, ‘Can I have a cappuccino,’ and they said, ‘Which kind would you like?’"

Still, while Rourke enjoyed the upgrade, he’s not to keen on today’s young actors, noting, "You can be less than mediocre and be a movie start. I have respect for very few actors and actresses. Some of them get a lot of acclaim but just because their movie made $200 million at the box office. They still suck. I got no respect for them and I used to let them know it. It was important for me to put that aside and go, ‘You know what? This is a business.’ So now I just keep my mouth shut and pet my Chihuahuas."

The Top Five Things I Love About Iron Man 2

Oh, Robert Downey Jr. He's pretty much my favorite actor now, especially after this excellent take on Sherlock Holmes. His portrayal of Tony Stark in Iron Man 2, though, trumps his first appearance as the titular hero's not-so-secret identity.

Although this film was one of those near-perfect blockbuster movie-going experiences, there were five things that really took this film from being merely a "very good" to a "must-see" for me.

Reason One: Characterization

The first Iron Man film, being the very first, couldn't spend too much time delving into characterization beyond Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. Sure, we were introduced to a number of characters, but I don't think we ever felt we truly knew anyone else all that well. This time around, while the focus remains on Stark, we learn more about the personalities and motivations of the supporting cast. Though he never comes out and says it, you know throughout the entire movie that Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) wants nothing more than to be Tony Stark. You can see how hard the man tries to impress, but he's so utterly awkward and inept that everyone can see it. Lt. Colonel Rhodes, played by Don Cheadle this time around, is developed into more than a mere friend and sidekick. He's so clearly torn between loyalty to Stark, dedication to his country, and a sense of duty that every action he takes is clearly an internal struggle for him, and we can't help but cheer for him to work everything out in the end.

Reason Two: The Action/Drama/Comedy Balance

While Iron Man 2 is first and foremost an action movie, it maintains an excellent balance between these three genres. The dramatic parts are glued together by spectacular action scenes, and the whole thing is glazed with some wonderfully comedic dialogue. Once again, Robert Downey Jr. pretty much isTony Stark, especially when it comes to the comedy part.

Reason Three: Superb Casting

Our leading man aside, the casting for this film was spot-on. Mickey Rourke is the perfect ugly, nasty-looking villain, and he was the perfect choice to play Ivan Vanko, whose lust for revenge against the Stark family runs deep. Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer was so wonderfully obnoxious and dorky that you couldn't help but feel a sort of embarrassment whenever he opened his mouth. Oh, and yes, Scarlett Johansson looked very good in the skin-tight black suit.

Reason Four: Shiny Special Effects

Though I am not one to overlook a film's flaws purely because it's pretty (yeah, that's right, I'm looking at you, Avatar), you still can't help but enjoy seeing Iron Man in action. Oh, if only it weren't physically impossible to actually fly like that! The effects are really great, though I don't think one could really expect much else from a big-budget Hollywood movie like this.

Reason Five: Robert Downey Jr.

Yeah, that's right: he's so awesome he gets his own spot on the list. Seriously, he is that good as this character! Tony Stark is a narcissistic, alcoholic, highly intelligent, attention-deficit, super-rich super hero. He relishes the fact that he's known the world over for being more than simply his father's son. As he says in one of the opening scenes, "I have successfully privatized world peace." He's so wonderfully full of himself, and yet you can see when he's fighting against his self-destructive or selfish tendencies in order to do the right thing.

To wrap things up, all I can really say is that Iron Man 2 is worth the money. Sure, I went to a matinee so I paid just $5, but that's because I'm poor. If I'd had more money, I would gladly have paid $12.50 to see it in IMAX. I promise, you can't help but smile and enjoy this worthy successor to the first Iron Man.

Oh, and don't forget to wait until after the credits! There's a little surprise clip at the end! If you really have to pee, run to the bathroom and come back. The credits take forever, so you'll have plenty of time.

Singer Lena Horne Dies at the Age of 92 in New York City

Lena Horne, a legendary singer and entertainer, died late Sunday night at the age of 92 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital according to her spokeswoman Gloria Chin. Horne, a singer, actress and civil rights activist, worked almost all of her 92 years and even in the modern day stood as a symbol of dignity. Noted Leslie Uggams, a fellow African-American performer who says she was inspired by Horne, "She is a lady." Add Uggams, "Black women were only allowed to play maids in the movies, and all of a sudden, the black community had this goddess."

As the great-granddaughter of a freed slave, Horne grew up around relatives who were active in civil rights organization, including the Urban League and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Before she was a celebrity, she followed suit, then continued to do so throughout her career. She broke into show business in the 1930s while still a teenager, working as a dancer at the Cotton Club. She later appeared on Broadway and then toured with the bands of that era.

She first got to Hollywood in the 1940s, and was the first black actress to be granted a long-term contract with MGM. She appeared in films like "Cabin In the Sky" and "Stormy Weather" and later performed for U.S. troops during World War II and even spoke out against U.S. internment camps that held Japanese Americans. Horne continued to work into the 1990s, and won a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 1995.

June Playboy Features 3-D Centerfold

In an attempt to create buzz and capture, perhaps, a new type of reader, Playboy Magazine is including a 3-D centerfold with its upcoming June edition. This will be the first such edition for the iconic magazine and the issue will come with a pair of 3-D glasses for your viewing enjoyment. "What would people most like to see in 3-D?" asked Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. "Probably a naked lady."

Hef is obviously capitalizing on the 3-D rage that surrounded such films as Avatar at the box office. And while 3-D is nothing new, it seems to have caught some momentum in recent years and people are looking for it more and more. Hef explained that he thought about offering 3-D photos in the 1950s and had a photographer shoot some of his models in 3-D. But he scrapped the idea after realizing how expensive it would be to include a pair of 3-D glasses with every magazine.

Hef had no such problems this time around, with the HBO series True Blood stepping up to sponsor the 3-D glasses in exchange for having the name of the show appear on every pair. The June issue will feature the magazine's 51st Playmate of the Year Hope Dworaczyk in the centerfold. Dworaczyk noted that the 3-D effect actually makes parts of her look larger than they are in real life. She also remarked that it almost appears as though she is handing her wine glass to the viewer as they look at her through the glasses.

Playboy circulation has plummeted in recent years, with the advent of the Internet. Only 1.5 million magazines were sold last year, against nearly 3.6 million in 2006

Twilight Stars Haggle over Money for Fifth Movie

Fans of Twilight shouldn't be too worried. Robert Pattinson, Kristin Steward and Taylor Lautner are all likely to be signed through the fifth and final film of the Twilight Saga. The interesting piece of the story is that the studio is choosing to break the final book in the series, Breaking Dawn, into two movies. Obviously, this is a good move on their part, assuming that they can maintain the tremendous popularity of the series through Eclipse, which is set to hit theaters on June 30.

Breaking Dawn - the book - comes in at nearly 900 pages and tells the story from two separate points of view. Those factors certainly contributed to the studio's decision to push for a fifth installment of the series. The studio hopes to have all of the key cast members signed in the coming weeks, then begin shooting both Breaking Dawn films in the fall, back-to-back.

The films would then be released in November 2011 and summer 2012, respectively, which would bring the Twilight Saga to a close. Perhaps not coincidentally, the final book in the Harry Potter series was also broken into two separate movies, which will likely prove lucrative for that franchise as well.

And although the lead performers seem securely in place for the final films, it's the secondary stars like Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene who seem to be pushing harder for bigger salaries to appear in the final films. Obviously, they have emerged as legitimate stars themselves, but their roles in the films are not nearly as important as the lead roles. And because the films follow the books, it's not as if the studio is going to expand the role of either actor in the films.

Katy Perry Tops the "Hot 100" List of Maxim Magazine

Maxim Magazine has launched its annual "Hot 100" list, and pop singer Katy Perry ended up at the top of the list, and head of such notable bombshells as Brooklyn Decker and last year’s winner, Olivia Wild. Maxim dubs its Hot 100 as "The definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women," though it should be pointed out that the list is entirely taken from celebrities and not the girls next door who may, in fact, be much more attractive. It has been noted as a list of actresses, models, reality television stars, girlfriends of famous men and singers.

Maxim Editor-in-Chief Joe Levy called Perry’s perch atop the list a "supernova moment" and noted that the singer’s appeal goes well beyond her looks. Said Levy, "It’s that feeling you get when you suddenly realize that the smartest, funniest, coolest girl you know also happens to be the best looking and a pretty good skateboard too." Asked about the selection process, Levy said (tongue in cheek), "The Maxim Hot 100 is a highly scientific selection process involving a hermetically sealed laboratory and blood pressure monitoring devices. But we’ve had to junk all the equipment, because the editors serving as test subjects busted it when someone brought a picture of Katy Perry in the room."

Now, that’s just weird. Nothing against Perry, but there are certainly more attractive women out there. It’s almost as though Levy is Perry’s agent or something…we’ll have to look more into that. Some of the more attractive women who fell behind Perry included Scarlett Johansson at #14, Angelina Jolie at #38, Megan Fox at #5 and last year’s winner, Olivia Wilde, at #20.
