Fans of Twilight shouldn't be too worried. Robert Pattinson, Kristin Steward and Taylor Lautner are all likely to be signed through the fifth and final film of the Twilight Saga. The interesting piece of the story is that the studio is choosing to break the final book in the series, Breaking Dawn, into two movies. Obviously, this is a good move on their part, assuming that they can maintain the tremendous popularity of the series through Eclipse, which is set to hit theaters on June 30.
Breaking Dawn - the book - comes in at nearly 900 pages and tells the story from two separate points of view. Those factors certainly contributed to the studio's decision to push for a fifth installment of the series. The studio hopes to have all of the key cast members signed in the coming weeks, then begin shooting both Breaking Dawn films in the fall, back-to-back.
The films would then be released in November 2011 and summer 2012, respectively, which would bring the Twilight Saga to a close. Perhaps not coincidentally, the final book in the Harry Potter series was also broken into two separate movies, which will likely prove lucrative for that franchise as well.
And although the lead performers seem securely in place for the final films, it's the secondary stars like Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene who seem to be pushing harder for bigger salaries to appear in the final films. Obviously, they have emerged as legitimate stars themselves, but their roles in the films are not nearly as important as the lead roles. And because the films follow the books, it's not as if the studio is going to expand the role of either actor in the films.
